Biography

Born in Switzerland in 1988, Lua Ducret developed an early interest in visual arts, particularly digital media. After graduating from the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL), they quickly gained recognition in the contemporary art world for their unique ability to merge technology with traditional artistic expression.

It is important to note that Lua Ducret prefers to maintain a certain mystery around their artistic work. They do not actively communicate about their works and only exhibit them in galleries and exhibition venues. This discreet approach contrasts with the trend towards media visibility that characterizes many contemporary artists. Lua seems to want their creations to be discovered in the intimate setting of galleries, perhaps to encourage a more authentic and personal experience of their art.

Beyond their fascination with natural disasters, Lua Ducret also harbors a deep concern for the gradual disappearance of analog culture, symbolized by the loss of traditional media such as books and vinyl records to rampant digitization. They fear that this transition to all-digital may threaten the richness and diversity of human history, thereby erasing a precious part of our collective memory.

For Lua, it is essential to preserve certain forms of analog media, as they represent not only a tangible connection with our past but also allow for a unique sensory and emotional experience that digital media cannot fully replicate. They actively encourage the conservation and appreciation of these cultural expressions to ensure that future generations do not lose the vital link with their cultural heritage.

Lua's works not only attempt to document the ravages caused by natural disasters or promote the preservation of analog culture, but they also prompt the viewer to reflect on our collective responsibility towards the planet and the need to adopt more sustainable behaviors to preserve our environment. Lua is fully committed to their role as an activist artist, using their creativity and talent to raise awareness and effect change.

As their career progresses, Lua continues to push the boundaries of their art, exploring new avenues to express their artistic vision. Their work continues to inspire and touch an increasingly wide audience, making them an important figure in contemporary art that continually prompts reflection on the challenges facing humanity and the planet. They serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of preserving our history and environment for future generations.
